This d.e.Sellers lasercut flatpack desk is a brilliant and inexpensive solution for furnishing a schoolroom. Actually, if they have an adult size, I’d probably use it as well. And it looks pretty easy to assemble as well.

This concept (a 2010 IDEA design award winner) is a great way to encourage a bit of cleaning up. It’s not as cool as the Cat in the Hat’s cleaning machine, but it makes that end of the playdate clean-up time a bit more fun. You know Besides, who doesn’t want to toss their toys into that inviting monster mouth!
Awesome flat-pack play structure. Because I like structures. And like flat-pack. Toss in a Pagoda-inspired design, and you’ve got a big old dose of flat-pack fun. Wonder what the shipping and handling on that will be?

This is a fun physical project. The project is basically Guitar Hero meets hopscotch. An interesting an unexpected match up that makes for a fun art installation. A bit too much work for my living room, but a cool project nonetheless. There’s video below as well.
This gets my official Thing I Didn’t Know I Needed award of the week – and its a strong contender for TIDKIN of the YEAR.
What a great way for a kid to let folks know about critical allergies. Pleasing to the eye and easily added to clothes, backpacks, or hats. Jeeto makes stickers, patches, and clothing to let people know that your kid would really rather not have that peanut butter cookie, thanks.

Sand, water, moving parts, and imagination are the key elements of David Rockwells imagination Playground in a Box. We’re going to be seeing more of these make their way across playgrounds around NYC and the country. Which, from the looks of the video, is a very cool thing. I’m a big fan of giving kids open-ended stuff and saying, “play”. The results are always more interesting that anything an adult could “assign” them.

Nice little roundup of some iPad apps for kids. I’m really on the fence about how much app time I want my kids to have before they are reading entire books.
However, some apps have clear educational value and there’s a lot to be said for keeping things calm in the back seat on those summer road trips.
