I connected with my pal Morgan Taylor of Gustafer Yellowgold fame and challenged him to tell a story on a single page. He spent about an hour and a half completing the drawing as my camera snapped about a frame a second. It was a blast watching the picture – and the story – come to life on the page.
The result is a charming story about a picnic with friends that turns into a rescue mission. I am hoping to do more of this with other authors, artists and storytellers in the future.
Kids birthday parties always feel like a chaotic blur of cake, screaming, and truncated conversations. We just hosted our son’s fourth at NYC Elite gymnastics and I set up this little time-lapse of the pizza/cake portion and I think it really captures the spirit of the day. I like the way the balloons dance around.
I used a Canon SD 780 IS with a CHDK intervalometer script. Then I imported the image sequence using Quicktime Pro. It was so easy to do. Hardest part was getting the right framing since I didn’t have a view of the LCD screen from the highest shelf I could reach. So I just did a trial and error for a few frames.
One of my first attempts at time-lapse. Going to loop the kids into some fun projects now that I’ve got my intervalometer all set up from the CHDK (Canon Hackers Developer Kit). That, and I just love using the word intervalometer. I’ve been trying to naturally weave it into my conversations at work as much as possible. Anyway, its not bad for an early attempt. I’m not expecting any cinematography awards either.
